FIPO attended the Private Healthcare Information Network (PHIN) AGM at which it was reported it is on track to deliver its transparency programme to the satisfaction of the CMA by June 2026. In simple terms, this means patients will be able to see clear, comparable information about private healthcare costs.

Invited to address the British Orthopaedic Association's annual congress in Liverpool, FIPO Vice Chairman Charlie Chan highlighted concerns about the impact of private medical insurance practices on consultants and patients, giving rise to restrictions on patient choice. He outlined FIPO's position on fee suppression.

FIPO has met with the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) to raise serious concerns that the private healthcare market is no longer operating as the CMA intended when it introduced the private healthcare market investigation order in 2014. As private healthcare becomes increasingly concentrated, practitioners face mounting pressure.

In the light of recent events in the independent healthcare sector, it seemed appropriate to highlight FIPO's role. FIPO is a Federation comprising the majority of the medical professional associations in the UK with a private practice committee, and is the senior body for specialists in the independent sector.
